1. General Policy

The policy of Direct Policy Foundation (the “Foundation”), an independent think tank registered as a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization in the District of Columbia and located at 1319 F St NW, Suite 301, Washington, D.C. 20004, is to respect and protect the privacy of our users. To fulfill this policy, the Foundation agrees to exercise reasonable precautions to maintain the confidentiality of information provided by you in connection with accessing and using this website (the “Site”) or otherwise provided by you to the Foundation. The Foundation also agrees to post prominently and in plain language its specific privacy policies. The Foundation does not collect personal information about individuals except when specifically and knowingly provided by such individuals and does not share personal information with any third parties except in the limited circumstances described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Collection and Use of Personal Information

The Foundation uses the Site to share its research and analysis — including scholarly papers, policy briefs, analytical studies, and forward-looking assessments on U.S.–Middle East relations, regional political, economic, and security dynamics, and developments in artificial intelligence and machine learning — with policymakers and members of the public, to provide a means for individuals to register to attend events, to raise funds to support its activities, and to otherwise promote its events and other services.

To access certain portions of the Site, you may be asked to provide personal information such as name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, and employment information. We may also collect event-specific information pertaining to your attendance, meal preferences, and guests. We may collect the name and email of a spouse, contributor, or foundation that you provide to receive recognition for a gift.

All of the above information is collected to help us tailor our content and personalize your experience. We may use this information to send you Foundation emails or mailings, updates on our programs, and scholarly activities, and we may share your personal information with third-party vendors as necessary for such activities. Such vendors are contractually prohibited from using or sharing your personal data for any other purpose. You may opt out of communications from the Foundation at any time.

In addition to your personal information, the Foundation may also collect standard Web server traffic pattern information generated by your use of the Site. General traffic, site usage, and length-of-stay information may be collected and stored in log files for the purpose of improving the user experience. This type of information is shared externally only on an aggregated basis.

By using and submitting information through the Site, you consent to the Foundation’s processing of your personal data in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy.

3. Additional Disclosure to Protect People or Property or As Required by Law

We use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about use of the Site. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit these sites, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personal information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit a site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy. This Site contains links to websites maintained by other individuals and organizations. The Foundation is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content on any of these other web sites. 6. Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. We never collect or maintain information at the Site from persons we know to be under age 13, and no part of our Site is designed to attract anyone under age 13. Please do not communicate with or contact us if you are under age 13.

Any person who provides Personal Information through this Site represents to us that he or she is 13 years of age or older. If the Foundation learns that Personal Information has been collected from a user under 13 years of age on or through this Site, then we will take the appropriate steps to cause this information to be deleted.

7. Updating Your Information and Unsubscribing

You may always opt out of receiving communications from us by unsubscribing from our messages. 8. Security Statement

The Foundation protects your personal information from loss, misuse, alteration, or unauthorized disclosure by encrypting the data which you provide us with current encryption tools, including HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure) and SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocols and by requiring employees with access to personal data to comply with our privacy policy. We operate secure data networks protected by industry standard firewall and password protection systems. Our security and privacy policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary and only authorized individuals have access to the information provided by our subscribers.

9. Effect of Future Changes to this Privacy Policy

The Foundation reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time. However, we will not apply any new policies to any of your personal data collected under an old policy without contacting you at the email address you provide and giving you the opportunity to opt out of any use of your data under the changed policy.
